Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the major provider of specialist health services in the Gippsland region, east of Melbourne. Our comprehensive range of services extends to emergency and intensive care, elective surgery, allied health, obstetrics, medical and radiation oncology at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, dialysis and aged care. LRH Mental Health Service operates an integrated specialist mental health program across the region and provides inpatient and community mental health care for adults, children and young people and older persons. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Graduate Coordinator Nursing/ midwifery to join the Education & Training team at Latrobe Regional Hospital on a Part time basis. Reporting to the Education Manager the successful applicant will play an important role in the development of new graduates to provide safe nursing care in line with LRH clinical and customer service standards. The primary purpose of the job is to recruit nurses and Midwives to the LRH Graduate Nurse & Midwifery Program and support their transition to the clinical environment at Latrobe Regional Hospital. The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Liaise with Applicants, Universities, Tafes, other Graduate Program Coordinators, other Facilities involved in Collaborative graduate programs with LRH, Department of Human Services, General Managers, Graduate Nurses and Midwives, Clinical Supervisors (Preceptors), Clinical Nurse Educators, Nurse Unit Managers, Roster Coordinators, Clinical Support Nurse, No Lift Coordinator, Hospital Coordinators, Employee Services & Pay Office;
  • Support the delivery of high quality and safe patient centred care;
  • Facilitate graduate study/ training days;
  • Ensuring 100% participation in mandatory training requirements;
  • Supporting preceptors with performance appraisals
To be successful in this position you will need to have:
  • Post graduate qualification in Education &/or Midwifery ;
  • Well developed communication skills;
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Managerial experience;
  • Experience in recruitment of personnel;
  • Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training;
  • Attendance at a LRH Clinical Supervision (Preceptor) Workshop (or equivalent);
  • Experience in setting learning objectives and in conducting performance appraisal;
  • Experience in performance management.
